How to Set Up Business Office Hours for Chat Widget

If you're using Media Shield’s chat widget, you can enhance customer support by setting business office hours for live chat. Here's how to set it up:


  • Go to Chat Widget Settings:

  • Navigate to Sites > Chat Widget in your Media Shield dashboard.
  • Choose Live Chat Type:

  • Select Live Chat as the type of chat widget you want to use.
  • Set Up Business Office Hours:

  • In the chat widget settings, go to the Chat Window tab and find the Business Office Hour Setup option.
  • Customize Outside Office Hours Message:

  • You can customize the welcome message for when your business is closed. The default message is “We are currently offline,” but you can change it to whatever you'd like.
  • Define Business Hours:

  • Set your business hours by specifying time ranges for each day, from Sunday to Saturday. Ensure no time overlaps.

  • You can copy your time settings to other days for convenience, similar to the calendar availability function.

  • Timezone Settings:

  • The business hours will be based on the business location's timezone.

  • Customer Interaction:

  • If a user’s timezone matches your business hours, they’ll see the live chat welcome message.
  • Outside of business hours, the system will prompt users with a contact details form.
  • After submitting the form, the chat will automatically close.
