Modified on Wed, Jan 22 at 9:22 PM

We’ve introduced exciting new features to improve your Media Shield community experience: Private Channels and Channel Emojis. These updates bring better privacy and personalization for your groups. Here’s a simple guide to help you get started.

1. Private Channels

Private Channels let you share content exclusively with selected members. Group admins and owners can create new private channels or convert existing ones to private.

How to Create or Convert a Private Channel:

1. Create a New Channel:

  • While creating a channel, toggle on the Private Channel option.

2. Convert an Existing Channel to Private:

  • Open the channel settings.
  • Go to the Settings tab.
  • Click on Change to Private Channel.

How to Add Members to a Private Channel:

  1. Open the Channel Settings and select the Members tab.

  2. Add members to the channel.

  3. Optionally, assign Channel Manager status to specific members, giving them admin access for that channel.

Things to Note About Private Channels:

  • Automatic Channel Managers: The group owner and channel creator are automatically assigned as channel managers.

  • Role Specificity: Group admin roles do not apply within private channels.

  • Owner Limitations: Group owners cannot leave a private channel.

  • Visibility: Private channels are invisible to members who are not part of them.

2. Channel Emojis

Make your channels stand out with emojis as icons! It’s a fun way to personalize your community space.
